Serenity

Queen Serenity

Queen Serenity was the queen of the Moon Kingdom during the Silver Millennium and the mother of Princess Serenity. She sacrificed her life by using the Silver Crystal to send the court of the Silver Millennium, including her daughter's, the Solar System Senshi's, and her daughter's lover Prince Endymion's spirits into the future to be reborn on Earth. In the manga, when the Inner Senshi and Luna went to the Moon in Act 10, they went into the ruins of the palace, and there found the Holy Blade near the Crystal Tower, inside the Prayer Room. When the sword was removed from the palace floor, the image of Queen Serenity appeared before them, saying that her essence resided in the computer databanks in the ruins of the Moon Kingdom, allowing her to speak with them. She told everyone that she was the one called Selene on Earth, goddess of the Moon, or former Queen of the Moon Kingdom, Serenity. She told them all of the past, and how the people of the Moon had long lives, given to aid their mission to protect the Silver Crystal, while at the same time watching over Earth and guiding it on a good path. Queen Serenity told them of the machinations of Queen Metalia which had led to the downfall of the Earth, and the deaths of Prince Endymion and Princess Serenity. Serenity then told them that the dark power was reviving, because in her grief of losing her daughter, the seal she placed on Metalia was imperfect. She explained to Sailor Moon that she had to use the full power of the Silver Crystal to destroy the dark power; because the crystal would follow her heart, she must believe in faith, unity, and love. Before she ran out of power, Queen Serenity told Sailor Moon to remember to live as a young woman because that was why she was reborn on Earth, and asked the other Senshi to protect Sailor Moon and to bring honor to the kingdom. She wished them happiness and her image faded away.

Princess Serenity

Princess Serenity was the real name of the Moon Princess. She was the previous incarnation of Usagi Tsukino, as was revealed part-way through the storyline of the first season. She was the crown princess of the Silver Millennium, but she showed little interest in her royal duties as she was infatuated with Prince Endymion of the Earth Kingdom. In the manga, contact between the two kingdoms was permanently forbidden for unknown reasons. However, the Princess would often travel to Earth to be in Endymion's arms. This Serenity was shown in flashbacks to be almost as childish and enthusiastic as her reincarnated self. When Queen Beryl killed Endymion in front of the Princess' eyes during her invasion of the Silver Millennium, Serenity took her own life with his sword. In the present day, Princess Serenity awakened after Mamoru Chiba sacrificed himself to save her from a deadly attack.

Neo-Queen Serenity

Neo-Queen Serenity is the Queen of Crystal Tokyo and the resurrected Silver Millennium. She is an extremely important character in the series, and she first appeared in the Black Moon story arc. Neo-Queen Serenity is the future form of Sailor Moon. She ascended the throne along with her husband, Endymion, and ruled all of Earth from the Crystal Palace (situated in what was formerly the Juuban district) with the power of the Silver Crystal. In both the anime and manga canon, Neo-Queen Serenity sent her child, Chibiusa, into the past to train to be a Sailor Senshi after the threat in the future ended. In the manga, Usagi became queen regnant at age 22, the same year she gave birth to Chibiusa. Through her power and the power of the Silver Crystal the people of the Earth became functionally immortal. Once she became Queen, Serenity ceased to age, and continued to retain her youthful appearance for well over ten centuries. The Guardian Senshi never aged physically past the age of 22, Haruka and Michiru stopped aging at about 24, Hotaru at an undetermined age, and Setsuna was already essentially ageless. Neo-Queen Serenity stated that she had lost most of her powers as a Sailor Senshi as the price of becoming Queen, though what exactly that meant was never specified. This was why it was so imperative that her child awaken as a Senshi. Even without the ability to transform, Serenity still demonstrated great powers in the manga, such as the ability to upgrade the powers of the the twentieth-century Sailor Senshi. Neo-Queen Serenity was much more composed and regal than her younger self, but there were hints that she still retained some of her goofy traits.

Princess Lady Serenity (Rini)

Princess Lady Serenity is the future form of Chibiusa, who appeared only in the manga. She only appeared as a vague image, never in person. She was the maiden who contacted Helios during the Dream arc, and whom he had mistakenly thought was Princess Serenity. In her future form, Chibiusa's physical appearance had matured into adolescence and her hair had grown out to resemble her mother's. Techincally Rini IS already Princess lady Serenity only younger; the daughter of Neo-Queen Serenity and King Endymion.
